Oliva Serie V Maduro 2009
The Oliva Serie V Maduro was a highly anticipated release for 2009. Released in one vitola, a 6″ x 52 Torpedo, and limited to a total production of only 50,000 cigars. The cigars come packaged in boxes of 10 and retail for around $85.00 – $90.00 per box, but can be found much cheaper.
I’ve looked forward to this cigar for a while and want to thank my buddy @BigABoyd from Twitter for gifting me a couple of these. Thanks, bro!

THE SMOKE
The wrapper on the V Maduro is a rich chocolate brown with slight mottling. Construction on this one is very good however the cigar felt quite hard, especially at the cap. I moistened the cap and cut it and although I was concerned about cracking it cut very clean. The cap was full of tobacco and very tightly packed, cold draw was tight.
Burn was very good and stayed mostly straight, some slight wobbling corrected itself quickly. The draw was quite tight as noted on the pre-light and remained tight throughout the entire cigar, as it warmed and softened some I was able to finger roll the cap and open the draw up some. It produced slightly less than average amounts of smoke, I’m sure that is attributed quite a bit to the tight draw.
The flavors on this really rocked. Lots of coffee, cream, leather and unsweetened cocoa – no sweetness noticeable at all in the first 2/3 and then a slight sweetness came in on the last third. Flavors remained very rich and enjoyable throughout the entire cigar and never became bitter or harsh even though I nubbed this one.
THE SHORT VERSION
- Gorgeous looking cigar with nice construction
- Draw was tight
- Burn was very good
- Flavors were phenomenal, loved this cigar
- I would recommend this one and will smoke more

Well done. I have to agree, it’s a fabulous smoke!
Great review Tim,i will search out a couple to compare to the 08′s…
I have only had 1 V I beleive. I will have to check this one out. Look at that wrapper! Is she as dark as that in real life or is that some shadow? That could pass as oscuro in the pics!
I haven’t had a 2009 yet, can’t wait to give it a try – thanks for the review!
Where the heck do you take these pictures? Very nice review.
